I first met Steven and Kim for their engagement shoot at Llyn Idwal in Snowdonia, North Wales. Llyn Idwal is a favourite place of mine to photograph. The beautiful views of the Snowdonia landscape means I could literally spend hours up there discovering hidden North Wales gems.

When I suggested Llyn Idwal to Steven and Kim, they were as keen as I was to capture some awesome photos as it was an area that they had visited before, but weren’t too familiar with.
We had an amazing evening and ended the shoot, just as the sun started to set over North Wales.

Steven and Kim both admitted they were uneasy having their photograph taken, hence why they booked an engagement shoot; but they absolutely smashed it and looked so comfortable in front of the camera.

Hopefully you can see why I love photographing in North Wales so much. Especially in Llyn Idwal. Lots of mountatins, rocky paths, waterfalls, wildlife and beautiful skies.

Anyway… On to the wedding day! I was assisted by Neal who was ready at Llyn Gwynant campsite to photograph Steven and his groomsmen as they arrived.

Meanwhile, I was over in a cottage in the middle of nowhere for Kim’s bridal prep where she was being made up by the talented Keena. Spirits were high, and laughter was loud as everyone made their final preparations. I was lucky enough to be working with Jo from Jo Gendle films for the first time.

Steven and Kim were married inside the barn at Llyn Gwynant with all their family and friends present. This was the first time I had photographed a wedding at Llyn Gwynant and I cannot wait to go back again. 

Following the drinks reception, Steven and Kim and arranged with Llyn Gwynant to plant a wedding tree on the land of the campsite which will remain there as a memory of the wedding day. I have never done this before but what an amazing idea! I hope to see more muddy heels, spades and watering cans with future weddings.

Kim and Steven were amazing and were up for any ideas me and Neal threw at them. We really wanted to head down to the lake for some photographs but thought, it’s a bit unfair on Kim asking her to walk down in her beautiful dress. Now even though I think she would have done, Neal was more than happy to play Parker and drive the happy couple down so we could capture some awesome shots.

Before long, it was time to head back to Llyn Gwynant Barn for the speeches and wedding breakfast. The barn was decorated beautifully with thoughtful touches from the venue and lovely ideas from Steven and Kim.

After the speeches, there was still so much more we could have photographed around Llyn Gwynant…So we did! We headed back down to the lake for some creative pictures, and also had fun with some sparklers and smoke bombs! All this before the happy couples evening surprise which very few people knew about.
