Soughton Hall Wedding Photographer | A Stylish Outdoor Ceremony & Golden Hour Portraits
Soughton Hall is one of those wedding venues that effortlessly blends history, elegance and relaxed countryside charm. Set within beautiful grounds and full of character, it feels grand and timeless while still being warm and welcoming. From the impressive brick architecture and manicured gardens to the light-filled reception spaces, every corner is incredibly photogenic and perfect for storytelling wedding photography.
When I first met Alex and Lauren at a wedding fayre, they were full of energy, laughter and excitement. I knew straight away their wedding day would be packed with fun moments—and they didn’t disappoint. We’d already had an awesome pre-wedding shoot together in Talacre, North Wales, so it felt like catching up with friends on the morning of the wedding.
Bridal Prep at Soughton Hall
The morning kicked off with prep happening in two places. Lauren got ready in the prep room at Soughton Hall, with simple, clean light coming through the windows—perfect for natural, documentary-style photos. Over at the Top Lodge, Alex was getting ready with his mates, keeping things relaxed and light-hearted.
Lauren’s dress was a modern off-the-shoulder gown with statement sleeves—simple, stylish and really suited the venue. No fuss, just clean lines and a strong look that photographed really well.
One of my favourite touches was Alex and Lauren exchanging cards in the morning. It’s a small thing, but it adds a really personal moment to the day before everything gets busy.
We finished with a few quick portraits in the window light before heading downstairs, keeping everything relaxed and natural.
The First Look with Dad
One of the most emotional moments of the morning was Lauren’s first look with her dad. These moments are always incredibly powerful—raw, unfiltered and full of love. You could really feel the pride and emotion in the room.
Outdoor Garden Ceremony at Soughton Hall
The ceremony took place outdoors in the gardens, with guests seated, surrounded by greenery and historic architecture. Just before the ceremony, a brief shower rolled through—but it stopped perfectly as Lauren walked down the aisle. Honestly, perfect timing.
Alex and Lauren exchanged cards in the morning too, which added such a personal touch to the day. There was loads of energy during the ceremony—laughter, happy tears and big reactions from guests.
Confetti & Drinks Reception
After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside for confetti and drinks. The confetti throw was absolute chaos in the best way—huge smiles, hands in the air and petals flying everywhere. Exactly how it should be.
Couple Portraits Around the Grounds
Soughton Hall is an absolute dream for couple portraits. From the grand gates and brick archways to the manicured gardens, there are endless beautiful backdrops. We kept things relaxed and natural, capturing real moments alongside some more editorial-style portraits.
Speeches in the Garden Room
The speeches took place in the Garden Room and the energy in there was brilliant. There were loads of laughs, a few emotional moments, and at one point we were all convinced Alex was about to break into song when he compared himself to Tom from McFly. Sadly (or thankfully, depending who you ask), he resisted—but it definitely got the biggest reaction of the afternoon.
Golden Hour Portraits
Golden hour delivered everything—warm light, soft shadows and that dreamy glow that makes everything feel cinematic. These were some of my favourite images from the day, with Alex and Lauren laughing, kissing and just soaking it all in together.
Evening Reception & Party
As the evening kicked off, the dance floor was packed. From emotional first dances to guests singing into microphones and waving glow sticks, the party was wild, joyful and full of energy. The Hustle were playing and they were absolutely mega—properly got everyone on the dance floor and kept the energy high all night.
