Elegant and Stylish Chester City Centre Wedding Photography

I was born in Chester, visited chester most weeks and explored what I thought every corner of Chester had to offer. Then not so long ago, a new wedding venue called Old Palace starts circulating on the socials. Being a wedding photographer from Chester, how have I never heard of this place!?
Situated along the River Dee, Old Palace stands tall overlooking the Chester skyline and if you’re really lucky, you can even smell the burnt ends wafting over from Hickorys!

Old Palace in Chester is a stunning wedding venue. Located in the heart Chester, Cheshire, this venue combines old world charm with modern amenities to provide an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. Oh and also so many amazing opportunities for your wedding photography.

Jase and Abbey were amazing company to be around on their wedding day. Genuinely they didn’t stop smiling or laughing all day. We had a great time walking along the River Dee, crossing the Jubilee Bridge, and wondering with the squirrels in the Grosvenor Park.

Bridal Prep at in The Morning Room

If you’re fortunate enough to be able to get married at Old Palace, you will have your own dedicated Bridal Prep room overlooking the the river. This is a much better experience for you, your tribe, your photographer, videographer and Hair/MUA.
The Bridal Suite is the grandest I’ve ever seen. It’s huge and looks incredible. Especially when you hang your wedding dress on the bed for a photograph.
Abbey chose Carol Ellis-Thompson and Annabelle Rose to glam her up for their big day in the Morning Room which is Old Palace’ dedicated prep room.

The Wedding Ceremony

Jase and Abbey were fortunate enough to have good weather on their wedding day. Cloudy weather for me is perfect! No squinting, no harsh shadows and that is exactly what we got… So they opted for an outdoor ceremony which was dressed by Uplit Events. The ceremony room (The River Room), would have looked stunning if they had opted for an indoor ceremony, but Jase and Abbey had their hearts set on an outdoor ceremony with natural light and the perfect backdrop of overlooking the river, for them and their wedding guests. Natural light in my opinion, always gives the best wedding photographs.

Old Palace Chester Wedding Photography

Old Palace has some amazing photo opportunities. Not only in the grounds on the venue, but also in Chester City centre. Jase and Abbey also supplied a few smoke grenades to add a bit of flare to some of their beautiful wedding photos. These looked great down the City streets and on the Jubilee Bridge.

Wedding Breakfast in The Ball Room

As you would expect, the ballroom is amazing. Especially when decorated by Uplit Events. Angela’s Yummy Cupcakes supplied the incredible wedding cake. Sadly I didn’t stay long enough to taste it but I’ve probably eaten way to much cake over the years as it is!

Speeches and Laughter

I always try to blend in with your guests and engage in conversations. But sometimes it’s best to take a step back, stick on a long lens and just capture everything happening from a far whilst people are unaware. The smiles and laughter were forever present with Jase, Abbey, their family and friends.

Final Portraits and Walkabout in Chester

After the speeches and the wedding breakfast, Jase and Abbey were on a high and up for more photos. This time they were even more relaxed and I was able to capture many more natural moments. Maybe the wine? So off we went for 20 minutes for some candid photos around Chester.

Cake and First Dance

Back to Old Palace for Abbey and Jase to cut their wedding cake and have their First Dance as Husband and Wife. I had the best time photographing Jase and Abbeys wedding at the Old Palace in Chester.
